I am back from a long trip in June to Chicago, London, Lisbon, Funchal, and Porto. It will take a while, but I’m going to post some pictures from my trip. Here are a couple of shots of street art in Chicago.
This guy has to be the most upscale busker I have seen. I bought a box of poems and he let me take his picture. Note the vintage typewriter and the meticulous attention to the detail of his display.
I strolled down Massachusetts Street in Lawrence yesterday to try out the 35mm Z 1.8 prime. Here is one of my favorite shots.

My sister and I visited her friend, Mark Brooks, at his farm. Mark is a world-class iris gardener. He showed us his iris, and we tried to photograph them. I used a 200mm micro nikkor on my D850.
Front lighting is easier to manage and gives a classic flower look.
But back lighting can be more dramatic if you can get it right. (I usually did not, but I made a lot of attempts.)
They’re just different (as in prettier). The clouds look more three dimensional to me. This shot was taken at the Will Rogers Shrine on Cheyenne Mountain. Pikes Peak is small in the background.
