La Boqueria Mercat

If you go to Barcelona, don’t miss this market. It is beyond spectacular.

There is a lot of action on the streets in Barcelona. This picture was taken outside the Picasso Museum, which was fantastic, by the way.
I used Photoshop’s almost magic camera raw “adjustment brush” on my raw file to help control the contrast here.

Zoom lenses are certainly convenient, but I will always love prime lenses. Nikon 50mm f1.4G lens at f5.

Low Light Capabilities of the Nikon D850

It was pretty dark in this church in San Sebastian, Spain, but I was still able to get good photos with my 24-120mm zoom, which has a maximum aperture of F4. I like to use the “auto ISO feature” which can be configured to specify a maximum ISO and a minimum shutter speed. Alternatively, you can let the camera choose taking into account the focal length you are using.

Back from a Wine Trip to Spain

There will be pictures from Spain coming in the next couple of weeks. I would like to start with a picture of people taking pictures of each other at the famous Pop Galo Chicken designed by Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos. Click the image for a better view.

Nikon D850

The light really wasn’t right, and I wasn’t close enough to get a picture of this Red Winged Blackbird. I have a new camera, so I turned on spot metering and aimed by 200-500 mm at him. I was shocked how much I could crop the image and maintain detail. I think I am going to like this camera.

Baker Wetlands Discovery Center

This area is a wonderful modification to the Baker Wetlands that came about when the by-pass was completed around Lawrence. Here is how it looked this morning when the sum first came out.
