The light really wasn’t right, and I wasn’t close enough to get a picture of this Red Winged Blackbird. I have a new camera, so I turned on spot metering and aimed by 200-500 mm at him. I was shocked how much I could crop the image and maintain detail. I think I am going to like this camera.

These birds are graceful, but efficient killers of fish. They stand in the water and pierce the fish with their sharp bills. They fold up their necks when they fly and when they perch. See here.
